Aged care staff training.
Built around your service.

Aged care staff training should reflect your service setting, approved policies and the responsibilities of each worker. Discuss a custom pathway and the suitability of transferable topics before choosing courses.

Start with the aged care service you deliver

Aged care staff training needs to reflect the work a person actually performs. Home and community services, residential care, administration and clinical roles have different responsibilities. Begin with your service setting and approved procedures, then decide what staff need to understand before work, what can be learned with supervision and what requires additional qualified training.

Care Enable Training can help design custom induction and practical staff learning. Some general staff-development topics may be useful across care settings, but a topic title alone does not establish that a course is suitable for an aged care role. Confirm content, availability and any required adaptation with us before enrolling staff.

Understand the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards

The strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards applied from 1 November 2025. The standards relevant to a provider depend on its registration category and services. Review the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s official standards for your obligations.

When planning training, distinguish the official requirement from your organisation’s way of putting it into practice. Your policy owner should approve any mapping between a lesson and a standard. A commercial course should not be described as regulator approved or a guarantee of compliance without evidence supporting that claim.

Choose relevant staff learning topics

Communication, respectful support, complaint handling, digital privacy and workplace preparedness are useful areas to discuss when developing a team learning plan. The situations, language and escalation instructions should fit your service and the older people receiving care. NDIS-specific content should not be assumed to cover aged care requirements.

A practical exercise might ask a worker how they would offer an older person a choice about a daily routine, check communication preferences or locate a current procedure. Focus on the person’s perspective and the worker’s role. Use fictional examples and keep identifiable care information out of course-design materials.

Turn approved policies into a clearer induction

Custom induction can introduce your service, professional expectations, document access, internal reporting and the systems staff use. Break the pathway into manageable lessons, with examples explaining what a policy means during everyday work. Include a clear route to ask questions and find the approved source document.

We can assist with custom induction training design, including lesson structure, workplace scenarios and knowledge checks. Your business approves accuracy and suitability. Custom induction and policy conversion are quoted separately from standard course-library membership. Email learn@careenable.online to discuss your approved documents and training goals.

Use official resources alongside workplace learning

The Commission offers guidance and training resources for providers and workers, including online learning resources. These can complement a provider’s own induction. Explore the official aged care guidance and learning resources when planning the pathway.

Keep a record of the purpose of each learning activity. Explain which activity introduces an external requirement, which explains your policy and which needs practical demonstration. This avoids a worker mistaking an online completion record for authorisation to perform a specialised task.

Make follow-up manageable for the team

Agree who checks completion, where evidence is kept and when learning needs to be reviewed. A policy change, new system or role change may be a useful review trigger. Plan refresher reminders around actual staff learning needs rather than assuming every topic has the same annual expiry.

Contact Care Enable Training for training membership support, course selection and help planning induction. Keep the human review of exceptions and competency decisions visible in the process. For a practical starting point, read our staff training matrix guide.

Talk through suitability before choosing a plan

Bring a list of staff roles, induction documents and priority topics to the first conversation. We can identify where custom learning may help and what further information is required. The standard library is currently presented through NDIS course samples; we do not claim that all 120 courses are aged-care-specific.

Email learn@careenable.online to discuss suitability and request membership, or use the Care Enable Training enquiry form. View annual library prices and customisation information after confirming the learning is appropriate for your service.

Aged care staff training questions

Are the courses accredited aged care qualifications?

No accreditation or qualification is claimed for the public course samples. Discuss the learning scope and use the appropriate qualified training and assessment where required.

Can you design induction around our policies?

Yes. We can assist with a custom pathway based on your approved documents. Your service reviews the content, role expectations and any standards mapping before publication.

Can we use an NDIS course unchanged for aged care staff?

Do not assume suitability. Review the actual content, responsibilities and setting. A transferable learning topic may need adaptation, while sector-specific obligations need the correct guidance.
